All of our staff have passed checks by the Criminal Records Bureau as required by law.  We also attend regular training courses and workshops run by SureStart, the Foundation Network and SEN (Special Education Needs).  Every three years, all staff update their first aid course and childcare protection procedures.

We actively encourage parent helpers at our daily sessions once your child has settled at preschool, although we do not run a rota system.

Little Acorns run a key-worker system which means that your child will be allocated a staff member responsible for monitoring their progress. Each child will be assessed half-termly on the early learning goals as outlined on our curriculum page. Records are available for parents to look at and discuss with their child's key worker.

The Little Acorns Committee

There is an elected committee of parents, who are responsible for the setting and collection of fees, fundraising and the employment of staff.  The committee meets once or twice each term and all parents are invited to attend these meetings. The committee is elected at the AGM, held in the autumn term each year.  Without a committee, Little Acorns cannot run so it is a vital role as well as being interesting and sociable for the volunteers involved.

Our committee chairman is Joanna Comber.
